How to vote by mail | absentee voting

Step 1

Request an absentee ballot online or by mail here. You (or a person with your written permission) can also request an absentee ballot in person at your local board of elections.

 

Step 2

Receive your ballot and mark your reason for voting absentee on the ballot. If you’re voting absentee for any issue related to to COVID-19, choose “Temporary illness or physical disability.”

 

Step 3

Vote for the candidates you support!

 

Step 4

Make sure to sign the outside of the ballot envelope before inserting it into the outer envelope.

 

Step 5

Vote absentee! Return your ballot, postmarked or in person by Election Day, November 8

 

How to return your ballot
  • Mail your absentee ballot and make sure it’s postmarked by November 8
  • Return an absentee ballot in person to any early vote site or election day poll site during voting hours.
  • Drop your ballot off at your County board of elections during business hours.

How to Early Vote

  • Early voting locations are different from your usual election day poll site.
  • If you live outside New York City, you can visit any of the Early Voting poll sites in your County.
  • If you live in New York City, you will be assigned an early voting location in or near your neighborhood.

  • Vote early Saturday October 29 until Sunday November 6
  • Hours vary based on County
